Teh Coolness...
...literally.

A 360° panoramic view from the top of Mt. Everest. It doesn't get much better than that.

And now for something completely different.

A fun little time-waster. You're presented with an image of some sort, and embedded somewhere in the image is a clue to the next image, which you have to find. As is often the case with these things, starts out trivially easy and gets progressively harder (more or less). The hardest ones took me about 2-3 hours to get; the easiest ones, a matter of seconds. But it's the sort of thing for which, if you get interrupted, you can simply save a bookmark, then come back to it later. It's really quite rewarding when you get some of the harder ones.

I saw that image puzzle a while ago and meant to tell you, I thought you'd enjoy it. Obviously I forgot...

I couldn't get past uh.....the 5th one I think. Where it's just jumbled letters. That's just "wtf?" so I gave up. It IS every cool though.

The 360° view I made from the top of the Squamish Cheif is better! Why? Because I made it! Yes! Yes! ME ME ME! :D

That is a really wicked picture...*whistles*

(I'd upload mine if anyone cared...)

Yes, please do.

1. Hint: Like the destructions say, you NEED Internet Explorer for this one. None of Opera, Mozilla, Firefox, Konqueror, Links2, Galeon or Epiphany worked for me. (Thank goodness for Wine!)
2. Spoiler in rot13: Lbh arrq gb fryrpg gur vzntr (jvgu gur zbhfr) va ZFVR, gura gur fbyhgvba jvyy orpbzr vafgnagyl boivbhf.
3. An image showing the solution: http://www.trichotomy.ca/images/image5.png.

I am so incredibly fit, when I climbed that, it was probably the most physically challenging thing I had ever done. It was kinda pathetic to see a load of little kids up there and stuff :p

But still....REALLY cool, I am deffinatly going to climb it a number of times this spring/summer.

No kidding. I haven't done any hiking / climbing in soooo long. I really want to get back into that sometime. Unfortunately the mountains are just a little too far from here to get to by transit. I could bike... but by the time I got there, I'd be too tired to do any climbing...

That does make SENSE. There's nothing in the page's code that's browser specific, and the puzzle is a bloody bitmap image anyway.

Heh. Yeah. Now you see. IE obviously uses a slightly different algorithm to do that. #5 is the only one that's IE-specific, though.

Can't get past stage 3 because of my total inability to see those 3D magic images.

It took me a long time. But I did google a page on how to view such images, went back, zoomed my head in and out of the screen, back and forth... I slowly started seeing SOMETHING, until... ooooooo... something appeared.

For those that absolutely cannot see the magic-eye stereograms (#3 is the only one of those), here's the solution: spoiler.

that is arguably the most saccharine picture i have ever seen. i kind of want to throw up, but that might insult the kitten, so i'd feel terrible if i did.
