Friendship Day... and stuff...

Yeah! Epileptics Untie!

Umm... it's "Friendship Day" here today. Or, no it's not. Because today's the weekend. But it was yesterday (ie: the 13th). Friendship Day. Yeah. With bake sales and whatnot. And ribbons and ballons and stickers of little yellow "happy face" guys all over the place. Because, you know, we can't have something like Valentines' day over here, can we? Boys... and girls... having romantic ideas for each other...? Perish the thought!

So yeah, when the student council tried to organize some Valentine's Day events, they were rejected by the administration, and so decided to hold Friendship Day instead. And hearts were out, so little "don't worry, be happy" decals popping up all over the place.

I mean, ok, I hate Valentine's Day as much as the next pathetic loser, but come on! Can we say L-A-M-E?

Umm... yeah... in other news, today (yeah, the real today this time) we held the AUS' ACM student chapter Programming Contest. It's held once a year... the top 2 teams go on to the nationals in March, from which they pick 2 teams to go to the regional finals (African and Arab) held in Cairo in October, then the top team from there goes to the World Finals in February (ie: next Feb). Which is in Hawaii this year... dunno where it'll be next year.

But anyway, the AUS competition was held today. And I was on a team (duh).
We came, we saw, we kicked pasty programmer ass.

Veni Vidi Codi?

...or something.

There were 8 questions, scoring goes by how many you can (correctly) finish in 4 hours (in the case of a tie, it goes by how long you took). So out of 12 teams, there were a bunch of zeros and ones. Two teams solved 2. One team solved 3 questions. AUS' pride and joy, #include "aus" managed to answer 4. They are all older students, who went all the way to the African & Arab regionals last year, and came in ninth.

And we answered six.

Aww bj-fuckin'-yeah. I'm grabbin a bit of cloud nine at the moment. But whatever, I'm sure you don't wanna read me ramble. So I'll shut up now.

Oooh. Pretty Pictures.
