The Waiting is the Hardest Part
Happy Rememberance Day, all o' ye.

Have spent all weekend painting.

Finally managed to give Cary the boot at the beginning of the month, but in one final act of childish spite, he took a big black permanent marker, and scribbled profanities all over the walls and ceiling of his room. After, of course, buying a new lock so he could lock us out of said room once he left, necessitating damage to the door to get it open (either that, or paying 50 bux to a locksmith to get it open; we figured fixing the damage would be cheaper... but it still took us a week to get around to it). Honest to god, you'd think he was 10 years old...

So anyway, James and I have spent the weekend repainting his room to fix it up. Took 4 coats of primer to cover up most of the scribbles. We figure one more coat of primer to go, then we can put the actual paint on. The carpet will probably have to be ripped up and replaced wholesale (you don't want to know).

Other than that, I've been banging my head against the latest impenetrable missive from Dr. Incomprehensible. Our latest assignment is "defined" by 15 pages of greek symbols and various notations (notatia?) that have been poorly -- if at all -- explained. Example:

Yeah. 15 pages of that nonsense. Le sigh.
O well... we have until the 29th, but I suspect I'm gonna need that much time.

In other news, finally have tickets, &c for Christmas sorted out. I'm flying Northwest-KLM via Min.St.Paul / Amsterdam. Will be in the UAE basically from Dec.21 thru Jan.08, inclusive (well, the 20th -> 9th, but those days are pretty much lost given flight timings). Still a little bit nervous about going via the USA, but *shrug*. To not do so would have been prohibitively expensive (this flight was $500 cheaper than the lowest non-US flight I could find). And whatever. I have a new passport; it's been five years... I'm probably worrying over nothing.

And heh. I doubt they'll throw me in GitMo or anything; worst that is likely to happen is being denied entry. So... if they don't let me on the plane, that just means I'll be in Vancouver for Christmas, I guess .

So, um. Hunh. See y'all... later... or something.
33 days 'til I'm DONE! <bounce /> <bounce /> <bounce />...
